Flavours, History & the Waterfront: March at George’s Greek Village

March has been nothing short of spectacular at George’s Greek Village and we couldn’t be more excited to share all the incredible moments, mouth‑watering flavours, and community pride that made this month so special. From indulgent weekend features to historic throwbacks and the return of ships on the Welland Canal, here’s a look at what made March unforgettable!

Weekend Feature Dishes That Stole the Show

March weekends brought bold flavours and unforgettable plates to the table, and judging by the smiles (and empty plates), they were an instant hit.

We were thrilled to introduce a brand new favourite: Smoked Mozzarella Ravioli with Shrimp, tossed generously in George’s rich red sauce and finished with creamy feta. Tangy, smoky, indulgent and comforting all at once, this dish quickly earned its place among our must‑have features. One bite and you know—this is a plate you’ll be thinking about long after the weekend ends.

The Return of the Classics

By popular demand, our lamb shank dinner made a triumphant return. Slow‑cooked to perfection, tender and full of deep, comforting flavour, this dish reminded everyone why it’s been a beloved favourite for so many years.

Steak Lovers Rejoiced when our Ribeye,  tossed with aromatic garlic and dill butter, was served up!  Juicy, rich and perfectly seasoned, it was a weekend highlight for anyone craving a classic steak with a Greek twist.

And of course we can never forget the fish lovers who regularly visit us!

Seafood fans were treated to our stuffed branzino (sea bass), filled with a delightful blend of feta, sun‑dried tomato and crab. Light yet decadent, this dish was as elegant as it was delicious—and a true celebration of coastal Greek flavours.

A Glimpse Into History: The Homer Bridge, 1932

One of the neat facts about our restaurant is that we are on a very historic Welland canal!

To that point we were excited to see a photo posted by our local museum featuring the Homer bridge that we are nestled beside.

Here is the construction phase of the bridge as documented way back in  March 1932!

The bridge is a powerful reminder of how deeply our location is woven into the region’s history. Seeing then and now side by side makes dining here even more meaningful.

The Welland Canal Is Open—and the View Is Better Than Ever

Speaking of the Welland Canal…. great news for all of our ship watchers!

The196th navigation season of the Welland Canal officially opened on 22 March 2026 at 8:00 am. With ships once again passing by, our patio has become a true sightseeing hub.

Enjoy authentic Greek cuisine while watching massive vessels glide along the waterfront—it’s an experience you won’t find anywhere else!
